What Yarrow herb Is:

This herb was named after the Greek warrior Achilles, who supposedly used yarrow's fernlike leaves to stanch the bleeding of his fellow warriors, hence one of its colorful common names, stanchwort. Long ago, Europeans also called it Herba militaris, because they continued to use its broccoli-like clusters of creamy flowers to stop the bleeding of combat injuries. Though native to Europe, you'll find yarrow growing naturally everywhere in North America except the Southwest.

Also known as soldier's herb, yarrow herb has been used medicinally for centuries. It has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and diuretic effects. Yarrow also promotes sweating, lowers blood pressure, relieves muscle spasm, improves digestion and stops bleeding.
