Elecampane health benefits

Medicinal Properties:

Elecampane, notably the phytochemical inulin, is a pretty good expectorant, assisting users in coughing up phlegm and bronchial congestion. Inulin also aids in maintaining a good balance of intestinal bacteria, helps ensure regular bowel movements, and soothes inflamed tissue. In research involving people (as opposed to laboratory animals), two other phytochemicals, alantolactone and isoalantolactone, proved useful in treating parasitic infections, including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, and threadworm. Alantolactone and the plant's essential oil also show some anti-inflammatory, immune-stimulating, and antiseptic (especially against bacteria, fungi, and Candidas) qualities.
