What Chasteberry Is:
Chasteberry may actually deserve its name. This deciduous shrub native to the Mediterranean region, with its lancelike leaves, fragrant flowers, and gray or purple berries that look a little like peppercorns, has a long reputation for treating menstrual disorders. It's particularly noted for putting the brakes on libido, hence this common name and another: monks pepper.
Once used by monks and nuns to curb sexual desire, chaste tree is now highly valued for its ability to regulate female hormones and increase breast milk production.
Chasteberry benefits
Chasteberry is used to treat menstrual and menopausal disorders.
Cautions
Chasteberry should not be used by postmenopausal women, during pregnancy, or by anyone on the contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy.
