Aloe vera benefits

The gel from freshly snapped leaves apparently soothes pain by dilating the capillaries, thus stimulating better blood flow to burned or wounded skin. It also encourages healing to occur between tissue cells. A tonic and other supplements made from the gel are said to aid digestion.

Aloes, or drug aloe, made from the juice (not the gel) of the dried inner leaves, is a strong laxative. At one time, aloes was a widely used laxative, but not anymore. The anthraquinones in drug aloe are a little too strong. They work, but they're among the last resorts to remedy constipation. First, eat a high-fiber diet. For supplemental help, turn to psyllium or cascara sagrada.
