With its fleshy, fingerlike leaves, this Aloe vera herb, African-based member of the
lily family is arguably one of the best known of all herbal remedies,
with a reputation spanning at least the past 2,000 years. The succulent
perennial grows in sandy soil in any dry, sunny place, including on
windowsills.

A widely cultivated herbaceous legume that can be grown just about anywhere, Alfalfa herb came from Europe, but it's been naturalized all over North America, particularly in the western states. Alfalfa isone of the herbal remedies used to treat flatulence, irritable bowel syndrome, and osteoarthritis.
Calendula herb, which is commonly known as marigold, can be used in salads, in skin creams or in medicines. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and wound-healing properties when used externally. It also eases muscle spasm and is a useful digestive remedy.
